The Background of Personal Computers
This is another example of why Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of the best romance/fiction writers. I am not a computer nerd but absolutely loved the backstory in this book. Great job Nicole Poole on the narration.

Long but worthy
Several things going on here. Bit of history of Silicon Valley and the development of the PC, which was unexpected but very interesting. It’s core is the transformation of the MC from mouse to tiger. The interesting point made… good or bad we are altered by the people we love.

Lots of historical details
SE PHILLIPS is one of my favorite authors. This book however is not typical of the books I most enjoy. But an author must start somewhere. Hot Shot was a good story. It just needed more editing.

Really good
I liked complex and deep story. Characters feel real, ordinary people with flaws. I liked learning about invention on personal computers. Love stories were complicated and intriguing.

Outdated writing style
Used to be a huge fan of SEP and couldn’t get enough of her books, but this one was a let down. The narrator sounded robotic like iPhone’s Siri. And the writing style and language felt outdated. She made the lead character come across as an 80 year old, so often that I kept forgetting she was supposed to be in her 20’s / 30’s. Sadly disappointed.
