Ein deutscher Frachter havariert im Devil's Riff unweit von Sorrowville, wo der Regen immer fällt und die Menschen kein freundliches Wort miteinander wechseln. Während ein Streik der Hafenarbeiter die Stadt in Atem hält, machen sich Elizabeth Roberts und Zacharias Zorn auf den Weg, um das gestrandete Geisterschiff zu untersuchen.
