For those who are avid WW2 enthusiasts this is a must read.
You won’t regret it.

Sincere gratitude for the honor, courage and integrity of all of the Japanese/American soldiers who served in WW2

The story of the 442nd Regiment Combat Team is a story which should be read by all Americans. Even though the Japanese/Americans were unforgivable treated by America during the time of WW2 and following years, the loyalty to the country who mistreated them was remarkable. I was personally awed by the courage, selfless service and integrity of these men during their service to their country despite the unforgivable treatment they had endured during WW2 and subsequent years. We as nation owe them our debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they made and endured. As a Vietnam Era veteran I salute them and try to uphold their Honor and Integrity to our country for which many made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of a nation who unfortunately denied them the rights and privileges all other Americans enjoyed. Their story should never be forgotten and untold.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, the experience with their fight for the lost battalion was a lot deeper than in the movie Go for Broke. Post war history was very good also.

Great story about incomprehensible bravery

The story was a little tough to follow at times and I wasn’t able to pull it maps to fully understand the situation. I’m going to research this unit and sort this out.

The person side of all the key players before, during and after the war was especially well researched and interesting.

Fantastic

I have watched the 1951 movie “Go for Broke” about the 442…. But that movie doesn’t do this unit the Justice that this book does. The bravery, tenacity but more importantly the “love of country” shown by these men was beyond extraordinary. In the face of racial strife, they stepped forward and fought for a country and a constitution that they believe in, many of whom doing so in the form of the ultimate sacrifice. This book should be required reading in schools and colleges to show what live of country is all about. God Bless these men and their families and more importantly their legacy.

Bravest of the brave!

A heart wrenching book chronicling the sacrifices of the 442nd regimental combat group in France. The regiment was made up of Nisei…Americans of Japanese descent. They were so intent on proving themselves loyal Americans, and fought so hard, that they sustained some of the highest casualty rates of the war, and earned countless decorations.

And they also suffered some of the worst racism America had to offer. Upon returning from the war, some refused haircuts or meals and restaurants. One American Legion Hall removed the names of Nisei soldiers from a memorial. Dozens of Medal of Honor citations were downgraded to lesser awards.

This is an excellent book. None of the 442nd deserve to havetheir story told.

When will the US finally learn?

The thing that makes the United States a great country is the diversity of backgrounds, races, creeds and cultures that comprise this nation. The evidence is literally written in history books like this one. All the right-wing, Neo-Nazi trash should read books like this until they finally understand how abysmally ignorant they truly are.
