Acerca de esta escucha

Hollywood & Crime is a groundbreaking true crime series about the most infamous murders in Tinseltown history.

In our 26-episode series opener "The Black Dahlia Serial Killers", host Tracy Pattin investigates the sensational unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short. Known as the Black Dahlia, Short was a star-struck young woman whose body was found completely severed at the waist in January 1947. Many remember her tragic story, yet few know that more than a dozen other women died in similar circumstances around that same time.

It is overall a good sum up of the crimes they mention. The performances were a little cringe but overall good.

Good True Crime

One of the better listens I've had in quite awhile. Thoroughly researched and full of details on the cases covered.

Kept My Attention

I feel this was delivered wonderful, with great information about people I did not know about. It was very informative and interesting. I don't know why they profiled it since who ever the killer or killers were are long since dead, they will not find out who there were. I listened to a little of that and skipped through it since I didn't feel in was interesting. I have to say I totally enjoyed this audio.

The narration was out of this world, most likely the best I have heard, they gave emotion but still stuck to the facts. I loved the sound effects which really bought the story to life for me, the news clips were great. There was no background noise unless it went with the story, no repeating of words, no breaks, very clear and totally a wonderful audio that really pulled me in. It will be one of those that I will listen to again. I totally loved this audio and words just can't say how much I enjoyed it.

I thought this was very interesting

This is a well researched and assembled take into a string of unsolved brutal murders in the era of classic Hollywood, including one of the most infamous murders of the 20th Century - that of the Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, but also covers over a dozen other murders many of which may have been the work of the same serial killer(s).

The only negative is their assessment on the likely profile of the killer(s) and whether the crimes were related and if so- how many. I felt that during that episode the broke from the well researched pattern of the series and offered shallow theories. They also totally mischaracterized and dismissed the theory that at least the Dahlia and Red Lipstick killings were the work of Dr Hodel either alone or with his associate, as offered in Steve Hodel’s excellent Black Dahlia Avenger book.

I would love this series to be brought to the small screen. The classic Hollywood feel, the sheer number of appalling crimes, and the tantalizing evidence that the police may have been close to solving them would be a gripping serialization. It would be important to be transparent that the original case files for many of the crimes have been sanitized and much or even all of the physical evidence deliberately destroyed by the very police departments that were supposed to catch the killer, but appear instead to have been marred by corruption and graft in the 1940’s and perhaps later.

Should be turned into a TV series

I really enjoy old Hollywood and true crime so this was a real treat. I also really enjoy Wondery podcast because they are well produced. They have an app but the reviews aren’t that great, so this is even better thru Audible because it just goes from one to the next in the series. Love it all!
