Professor Valdemar og hans niece Cille er kommet til Furesø i Frederiksdal. Her vil professoren fortælle om Danmarks dybeste sø, der blev skabt under istiden for 12.000 år siden. I vandkanten møder de surferen, der advarer mod at tage ud på søen. Her kan de risikere at møde Geden Grum, en flere meter lang efterkommer af et fortidsuhyre fra istiden. Alt går som planlagt, indtil Cille forsvinder, og professoren får forvildet sig ud på surferens surfbræt. Pludselig glider en mørk skygge gennem vandet...
Sent om aften, når mørket er faldet på, tager professor Valdemar rundt på gamle historiske steder. Han fortæller om konger og dronninger fra Danmarkshistorien. Sagn om spøgelser afviser han som noget pjat. For som han siger: "Det, man ikke kan se, det findes ikke". I de første 8 afsnit bliver han fulgt af en lille skytsengel. Når han går rundt i de mørke, støvede sale og fortæller sine historier, passer hun ikke kun på ham, hun vil også vise ham, at der er mere mellem himmel og jord. I afsnit 9 til 18 har han sin niece Cille med, og det er vist meget godt, for det er som regel hende, der hjælper ham ud af spøgelsernes kløer.
Jesper Asholt spiller hovedrollen som den støvede professor Valdemar. Skytsenglen, der passer på ham, bliver spillet af Pernille Vallentin, der også synger titelsangen "Tryllestøv." Serien er instrueret af Nicolaj Kopernikus og oprindeligt produceret af Tiny Film ApS og ZuperFilm Produktion.
