Um eines direkt klarzustellen: Ivy Wilde ist keine Heldin. Eigentlich ist sie die allerletzte Hexe auf der Welt, die man rufen würde, sollte man magische Unterstützung benötigen (was nicht heißt, dass sie es nicht könnte!). Ginge es nach Ivy selbst, würde sie am liebsten den ganzen Tag auf der Couch hängen, Serien gucken, Junkfood mampfen und mit ihrer Katze Streitgespräche führen. Doch durch einen Bürokratiefehler wird Ivy Opfer einer vertauschten Identität und unfreiwillig - sehr, sehr unfreiwillig! - mitten hineingeschleudert in den Arkanen Zweig, der Ermittlungsbehörde des Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment.
Rasend schnell vervierfachen sich Ivys Probleme, als dann auch noch ein wertvolles Objekt gestohlen und sie daher gezwungen ist, mit Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter zusammenzuarbeiten. Raphaels saphirblaue Augen lassen in Ivys Magen zwar irgendwie Schmetterlinge flattern, aber eigentlich zeigt der Adeptus all das, was Ivy aus tiefstem Herzen ablehnt: die freudlosen Tücken von zu viel stoischem Hexenwerk. Und je länger Raphael Ivy piesackt, desto größer wird ihr Verlangen ... ihn in einen Frosch zu verwandeln! Auftakt der magisch guten HEX-FILES-Reihe von Helen Harper!
