All war is hell.

We'll written book on an interesting topic. until reading Hellfire, I said not fully understand how much resources it takes to maintain a chemical warfare program; no wonder why most contribute opt for nuclear. not to meeting that there is no guarantee that a chem weapon will be effective. Good book!
as for my opinion concerning the author's opinion (which he professionally and unbiasedly leaves until the epilogue), chemical weapons are not more evil than others. ANY weapon in the wrong hands and for the wrong reason can be used for evil. however I agree that there is a case against making and maintaining such huge stockpiles of them. many of the individual ingredients are harmful by themselves, and once they are made extremely difficult to dispose. bottom line, chemical weapons are am necessary evil, but should be treated only as a weapon of last resort.

Very good historical review.

Normally do not read/listen to war time history. However, after listening to the author talk about the book, purchased the audiobook. Hellfire Boys was extensively researched and revealed many angles to the story of chemical warfare. The audiobook was extremely artfully worded, logically organized and well-narrated. Especially those interested in world war 1, military history, chemical warfare origin or history buffs in general will greatly enjoy this book.

An amazing story with an incredible narrator.

I loved the pace and structure of the information in this book. All of the research that went into this book is very apparent from the quality of the back round presented

The writing and narration remained in line with the author's intent. A very technical book with a good amount of humanity.
