Acerca de esta escucha

The stunning third Orphan X thriller from number one best-selling author Gregg Hurwitz.

To some he was Orphan X. Others knew him as the Nowhere Man. But to veteran spymaster Jack Johns, he was a boy named Evan Smoak. Taken from an orphanage, Evan was raised inside a top secret programme designed to turn him into a deadly weapon. Jack became his instructor, mentor, teacher and guardian. Because for all the dangerous skills he instilled in his young charge, he also cared for Evan like a son. And now Jack needs Evan’s help. The Orphan programme hid dark secrets. Now those with blood on their hands want every trace of it gone. And they will stop at nothing to make sure that Jack and Evan go with it.

With little time remaining, Jack gives Evan his last assignment: to find and protect the programme's last recruit. And to stay alive long enough to uncover the shocking truth...

With Hellbent, Gregg Hurwitz raises the bar again with another masterclass in big-screen, high-octane thriller writing.

Exciting, fast paced with the nail biting action. The best so far. An excellent storyline with superb characters.

Brilliant

The first book in this series had me hanging on every word but the second was disappointing. This one, the third in the series, was back on form and once again I couldn't put it down.

back on track

I liked how Hurwitz really explores the complexity of relationships and trying to function in societies complex and ever-changing definitions of normal.

another awesome orphan x story

Gregg Hurwitz' Hellbent is the 3rd installment in the Orphan X franchise. Van Scriver is still on Evan's tail, but the background for this comes into clearer focus. This time out, Evan's former mentor who was presumed dead in book 1, but revived in book 2 has now been definitely written out of the series for good, but not without dropping a package into Evan's lap that digs deeper into the Orphan program and the extent of the Van Scriver cleanup. Specifically, Evan winds up protecting a near orphan who left the program prematurely, but comes up the target list. At the same time, Evan manages to squeeze in his side hustle for one job that overlaps with his other activities in a good way. While the immediate threat from Van Scriver is eventually neutralized, Evan learns the extent, but still not the actual reason for interest in his termination as the setup for book #4.

Evan's tradecraft is well exercised, while he gets some serious computer schooling by a teenager under his protection. The relationship with the teenage girl who is a near orphan provides for much introspection regarding his relationship to Jack his mentor and only father figure. While the computer wizardry and the LA gang action is a bit over the top, the action is well designed, non-stop, and overall satisfying. His love-hate relationship with Candy gets a workout suggesting some interesting possibilities for the future.

Scott Brick was outstanding with the delivery of the story

Amazing Installment To The Series

So great to find another author in the same league as Tom Clancy and Mark Greaney !

Orphan X is exceptional, fast moving, twists and turns you don't expect and the ending! I can't wait for the next one!

Scott Brick is one of the best narrators out there! LOVE the books he does!

Well done !

Excellent!

I’ve enjoyed the “Nowhere Man” series until this book. Scott Brick is still fantastic but the addition of the teenage character, Joey, set me teeth on edge. There was nothing likeable about her. And I detest this trend of making children smarter than adults. It’s not true and it’s sets them up to fail. This whole book was a fail. Awful!

Glaring Disappointment!

This narrator has the unique ability to read every scene, whether it is an action part of the book or the gory discovery of a rotten corpse in the same time of voice as one would narrate a soppy romance novel. the story could have been good but it was hard to tell. the narrator's voice was so annoying that it was all I could do to get through six chapters before deleting the book off my device.

A performance definitely to be missed.

The narrator should be reading romance novels
