When Jimmy Magwood breaks into a house, he's shocked to find a young woman locked in a metal box. A few days later, after he's arrested for burglary, he decides to tell Detective David Hudson about the woman. However, he's poisoned before he can tell the detective the kidnapper's name and address. Hudson has no doubt that Magwood's murder was arranged by the kidnapper.
A search of missing persons reports reveals that the woman in the box is Michelle Garnett, who disappeared a month and a half before.
Hudson finds the house Magwood broke into, but Garnett is no longer there and the kidnapper left no clues behind. Soon the detective discovers that whoever snatched Garnett also abducted Jane Carson, who looks exactly like Garnett and is the biological daughter of billionaire Phillip Bellamy.
