Plenty of Action

I really enjoyed this book. I've had it a while and finally listened to it, then I listened to the whole series! This is a good solid espionage thriller with lots of action.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book and the entire series.
Narration by Jeffrey Kafer is excellent.

Hard Road

This book and audio book will hold you in entity to the end. The reader is skilled to enhance this spell binding tale.

So bad it's good - Is this satire or for real?

The characters, the action, the plot is sooo over the top it makes you wonder if Turner is serious or winking at the reader. The narrator really put it over the top. The entire book is delivered like a movie trailer in that super serious tone from the "in a world..." school of narration. The plot follows the expected outline but amps it up so it could be ready as an FX series without rewrites.

Let's be clear, our hero, Jon Reznick has all the macho qualities we demand of our action heros. Quite, strong, risk taker with giant .... Seems to work for him time after time as he is underestimated by the very evil villains.

The book has all of required elements presented as mega clichés. What's not to like? Sit back, turn off your brain, and enjoy. No complex psychological twists here. Just retired special forces guy kickin butts and taking names. Why not?

Strange narrator

I generally enjoyed the book but the reader affected a “tough guy” tone through out the entire book- kind of a John Wayne-ish tone that distracted me from the story.

Great action enjoyed it.

Performance was great book was full of good action sequences and was fun to listen to.

Action Packed

A book thou will truly enjoy. It's full of deception, evil, murder and secrets that the government will not want you to know.

Decent story but over-the-top narration

The story is good with a few unforeseen twists along the way. Main character is well developed and stays “within character”
Throughout the book. The narrator seems to have adopted (at least for this book) a version of a “1930s hard-bitten gumshoe” voice which at first was funny, then became annoying, and finally dulled after a few hours’ listening to tolerable. Overall an enjoyable book despite the narration. Will probably try another one from this author but will check to see if narrator and/style is the same - if so, will likely give it a miss.

The reader keep putting me asleep! He had such an Up and down voice.
The story was full of action!

Thrilling

Thrilling story. I would have given it 5 stars across the board, but the man reading the story sound like a man most of the time. 😅That's what you expect right?! Well, when he is supposed to portray a woman I would hope that he sounds like a woman. To his credit, he did most of the time.

Something else to note: there are quite the amount of f bombs in this story. It's understandable, considering the lead character has a military background. Just be aware of that.

Good story. Keeps your attention well
