Well worth the listen with repeat value

It is a very in depth and detailed recounting of mythology. It is packed with information and stories. I definitely didn't get all the details from one listen. I really enjoyed the snippets of poetry and other literary quotes interspersed with the stories. It really gave new depth to the quotes, some of which I was familiar with and many that were new. The same is true of the myths. Some of them were very familiar while others were new. I appreciated the narrator. She was very easy to listen to and understand.

All-Encompassing Mythology Collection

Herculean effort by a 19th century writer in collecting the vast majority of Greek & Roman mythology. Beginning from creation myths, then delving into the Pantheon of Olympus, major and minor deities, demigods, antiquity kings, and more.

Interspersed with well-delivered poetic verses from translations of the Iliad, the Odessey, the Aeneid, famous ancient Greek plays, and various old poets, these poems endow the telling of such myths with grandeur and majesty.

Roman names were mainly used as it appears they were the prevalent at the time of writing (late 19th, early 20th Centuries), although Greek names are collectively mentioned in passing.

excellent overview

This was a well written overview covering the basics. Alot of info packed into one book. The narrator was fantastic. My only issue is with the quotes inserted into stories and a listener may not always catch that there was a transition. I'm sure it's more clear in print. ( italics or some other font ) but for audio it was a bit confusing for the first couple chapters. overall it IS worth the credit.

Mythology with interesting way of using references.

Interesting book round mythology. What I specially liked were the quotes from antique and more modern authos to finish off a narration, making it clear how the myths influenced others. Sadly, the promised analysys at the end is not there. Secondly, it is not really a book for beginners, specially because of all the literature references. Still, it is interesting and worth a listen.

Very Enjoyable Overview

I really enjoyed this audiobook. While I was a bit hesitant to listen some parts as I have been digesting full mythological retellings as of late, the stories are narrated well. As someone who is used to the Greek names, I appreciate that they make sure to introduce both the Roman and Greek names.
