Meet Amillion Williams, a plus-size woman turning 40 who is in a dead-end relationship and hates her job just as much as she detests her thunder thighs. With the holidays approaching, she plans sweeping changes in her life. None involve losing weight. She’s already fought and lost that battle too many times to count. First on her agenda is spending Christmas with family, binge eating barbecue and Lily Cheesecake.

Then, things begin to look up when she starts a blog that brings together her two loves: writing and eating. While reviewing an upscale restaurant in Houston and enjoying a meal alone, she encounters Everett, who is too good-looking to be trusted, and besides, he drinks and smokes.

A simple exchange of phone numbers, which she assumes will go nowhere, takes them outside of the boxes they’ve been trapped in for years. Both yearn to be loved in a particular way, without walls or strings, and they may have just found it.

Needed a more interesting Narrator.

The story was great. Enjoyed the characters and story line. The only thing that took away from the experience is the dead pan Narrator.

Intriguing Story!

I found "Gourmet' an interesting story that got even better as you continued to listen on about this heroine Amillion. There were times I did get a little bored at the beginning of this audible but still continued on listening till the end and I was glad I did. I will say Amillion definitely had me shaking my head and wondering when it would come through to her as she seemed to be on a roller coaster ride going back and forth with her thoughts. Was it about her ex-boyfriend, her weight, her job, her blog, or her true friends and now a new person appears? When the hero Everett came into the picture I was so glad there was someone who seemed to have some sense and good advice for Amillion. Will she take the advice he gives? Well, this is where I will say you will have to get on audible and listen to 'Gourmet' for and see for yourself. I did enjoy hearing from some of the characters from this author's other reads [the Ray series] which tied in so well to this story. Overall, this was a good story. I only wished there had been an epilogue so we would have gotten the rest of the story.

Story was good, the narration was terrible!

Listening to the narrator make it very difficult to listen to this book and really decreased my enjoyment.

I really enjoy Cheryl’s narration. It always makes the characters seem genuine. I love all of the characters, Ms. King being my favorite.

Must read!

I loved this book! I like the connection with the authors "Ray" series and the other characters special appearances. I like the fact the characters were not your usual flawless characters and that they held realistic personalities. Good job Cheryl on the story and narration!

Author not right for narration

The story line was good, but the narrator was awful. I had to increase narration speed to get through the story.
