Putting words to decades of emotion and struggle

It seems that I wasn’t alone in my attempt to find meaning and balance between the faith with which I was raised and what I have come to think of as ‘American Christianity.’ Dr. Brooke’s book so marvelously gave roots to that struggle and helped me search for the answers within myself. I’m not all the way there, by any means, but I am grateful to see so many of those feelings I’ve grappled with for decades finding purchase within the words of someone else.

Life changing

This book saved my life, during a very dark season at the beginning of what I’d later learn to call my “deconstruction”. I read it twice and started a third… every word feels like the gentle warm hand of God under my chin lifting my face, raising my eyes to look into the love and life contained within his own.

Well performed, just not what I was expecting beyond the first chapter. Felt like a very long sermon.
