With an introduction written and read by Katie Fforde.

Hero Wantage is desperate to change her fate.

When the dashing Lord Sherry proposes out of the blue, Hero is overjoyed—she'll escape a life as a governess and, once they wed, he can finally claim his inheritance.

But as Hero attempts to social climb in glamorous London society, Sherry is concerned that her naivety will ruin them both and takes drastic action.

The chaos that follows will push friendships—and hearts—to breaking point.

Delightful!

The narrator was amazing and the characters were so fun! A book I will listen to over and over again.

Ivory turners and card sharps my least favorite.

SPOILER

I thought the narrator was excellent. His ability to give life to dialog was what made this book so satisfactory. I dislike immensely when a swindler appears on the scene and despite warnings gets his mark in his crosshairs. Overall this story was very very humorous. The genius of capturing the fascinating thieves cant is one of my absolute fav part of Heyer’s books. The secondary characters are undoubtedly a strength. Recommend this book. Loved the plotting.

so much fun!

You don't read this book for any edification of mind - it is purely fun. I suppose there are a few interesting historical details but they are scant or scattered. But from Chapter 21 on, it keeps you in a bubble of laughter and that's well worth it imo.
Also, having it read to me, gave me a different perspective and I didn't find it as superficial as I previously did, (which is to say, I previously found it entirely superficial and often quite tedious in sections - I felt most of the characters were extremely immature, which they are of course - being a predominantly young and privileged cast [I suppose I used to contrast this with my own depth of maturity and experience at that age] - but now, with distance, I find I am more entertained by the ludicrousness of this plot and characters.
The narration was very good and even though there were several passages I would have read differently, the different approach gave me a slightly different perspective and that can only be a good thing when one has read a book several times

Light-hearted, fun characters.

Great narration. His characterizations brought the story to life. Found myself smiling and loving the group of friends who were captivated by the innocent new
wife and how they protected her .

The conversations between the young ton men especially Ferdie!

One of Georgette Heyer’s most delightful Regency romances. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The voices were very well performed.

Bertie’s Ancestors

Georgette here gives us the forebears of Bertie Wooster’s Drones Club chums along with a deliciously ingenuous heroine called Kitten. P.G. Wodehouse must have been delighted. Owen Findlay underplays the idiots slightly, but you’ll believe he strolled in from his own Regency club. Let the claret flow!

Brilliant narration, very funny story

This narrator is perfection. He understands Georgette Heyer’s wit so well, breathes life and excellent personality into all the characters, and brings out all the absurdity and hilarity of this novel. Friday’s Child has a rip-roaring plot complete with elopements, abductions, flirts, misunderstandings, raffia wine, light-fingered servants, gambling dens, duels, canaries, carriage races, shockingly expensive gowns, encumbered estates. It’s chock-full of crack Regency cant, a nonsensical hero, a winning heroine, an unbearable mother-in-law, and the kind of cousins we all wish we had to help us out of scrapes. Love!

Delightful

Well rounded, likable characters and the setting in which they act flawlessly portrayed by author and narrator.
