Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy is distressed. Not only is his friend Bingley engaged to a woman who may not return his affection, but her sister is all that he should not desire. Darcy is finished fighting against his feelings, however, and resolves to marry Elizabeth Bennet. Except that she doesn't want him. Elizabeth is puzzled by the gentleman from the Lake District. He runs hot one minute and cold the next. When she finds herself alone with him, his character is revealed. But a proposal by her cousin forces her out of Hertfordshire and into London, and Elizabeth's youngest sister is propelled into danger. She must do her duty to the Bennet family, and yet her heart aches for what could have been between her and Darcy. Fortunate Diversions is a sweet, clean novella that asks the questions of whether Darcy can show Elizabeth that he can be a gentleman and if Elizabeth can resolve herself to a ruined sister and a loveless future.

Interesting short story with abrupt ending

Fun twist on P&P with low angst. Villains mainly “off screen.” Clean. Honorable D but E was too feisty. Ends rather abruptly. Needs an epilogue or more chapters to flesh out the story.

Short and sweet

All of the things I love about P&P. Great alterations. Just hate virtual voice.

the narrator

it's a great story, however the AI narrator is a cold listen. there is no feeling in the voice, and it doesn't understand when the £ sign is used to say pound, and it doesn't understand when to use terms for money and not just say the numbers. And when the characters use Darcy's nickname, Darce. The system says "Darkay".
