From a working-class background in North Carolina to a job as a cook and club singer in Nashville to his "overnight success" with his smash 1986 album Storms of Life - which launched the neotraditional movement in country music - Randy’s first three decades are a true rags-to-riches story.
But in 2009, this seemingly charmed life began a downward spiral. His marriage dissolved, he discovered that his finances had unraveled, and his struggles with anger led to alcohol abuse, public embarrassment, and even police arrest in 2012.
Then, just as he was putting his life back together, Randy suffered a devastating viral cardiomyopathy that led to a massive stroke that he was not expected to survive. Yet he not only survived but also learned to walk again and in 2016 accepted his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame by singing the hymn that explains his life today: "Amazing Grace".
Filled with never-before-told stories, Forever and Ever, Amen a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at dizzying success and the miraculous road to restoration.

Loretta grew up dirt poor in the mountains of Kentucky, she was married at 13 years old, and became a mother soon after. At the age of 24, her husband, Doo, gave her a guitar as an anniversary present. Soon, she began penning songs and singing in front of honky-tonk audiences and eventually made her way to Nashville, securing her place in country music history.

Randy Travis is amazing

Who can you trust? Obviously, no one.
Love Randy's music, did not know a lot about his story. This was an eye opener from childhood onward. The woman, Lib, who got her hooks in him at age 17 (she was 35, and what is the age of consent in that state?) should be ashamed of herself, that is, if she has any humanity at all. Randy is beyond naïve though....but what a huge talent and what a shame about where he is at only 60. Anyone who wants a career in the entertainment industry nd

Excellent Story
It made me cry almost every chapter. In 2005, I had a stroke in my speech area and my right side was completely paralyzed also. The doctor didn't believe I would make through the night. God had other plans. Never give up, you will be doing concerts again soon.

So glad to have gotten this book! It makes you feel like you’ve known Randy all your life. Truly an Amazing Grace story!!!! Christians are not perfect, just saved by God’s Grace.
Being a caregiver is tough, my mom use to say “One sick person will kill ten well people.” Thank God for Mary’s continued, devoted care to Randy! With the help of the good Lord, we can do anything…. I know because I’ve been there myself with family…. Only with Gods help did I get through.
The book inspired me to look further into Randy’s life in pictures… I found it interesting when looking at the house with his first wife compared to the one he has now….. the first house looked very secluded, locking everything out, huge walls around it, cold…..kind of like how his first wife seemed to treat him with his friends…. His house today seems wide open with a fabulous view, and very inviting, so refreshing!
Thank you for sharing this life story with everyone! May God bless you Randy and Mary and continue to help you on this journey! You are in my prayers!🙏🏻

Thank you for all of the time and energy that went into this beautiful autobiography. Randy, you have always been my favorite artist. You have so many movies and recordings I haven’t seen or heard yet. Life gets busy and we don’t spend time doing what we enjoy, so the lessons in your book along with the knowledge of more to discover fills me with anticipation.
