Driving home as light fades to dusk across the Mojave desert, Dr. Kate Morgan encounters a stranger on the side of the road, disoriented and in pain. What she doesn’t know yet is that he has been looking for her, assigned to her from the far reaches of another galaxy.

She brings him to Bellingham, the isolated psychiatric hospital where she does her research, hoping to treat the migraines that seem to be wracking his whole body. He tells her his name is Wyn. But is he suffering from schizophrenia, she wonders, for he talks at times as if he is someone else?

Late at night Kate watches her patient walk into the desert. As he raises his arms, a force field of light suddenly appears out of nowhere and envelops him. Gradually, she begins to realize everything about the man challenges the science she has always believed was the only truth.

But the director of the institute is obsessed with using Wyn for unethical and dangerous experiments. As the crisis escalates, Kate must discover the extent of her courage to face evil and accept her own willingness to be a bridge between human and alien survival.
