The Boy Who Knew His Career at Nine
By the time Jerry Stadtmiller was nine years old he knew what he would do for the rest of his life: rebuild old airplanes. Born a preemie in 1936, Jerry overcame the odds only to face an ongoing series of medical problems that nearly ended his career many times over.
This is the amazing story of how one man restored over 100 antique airplanes to flying condition and earned the love and respect of all who came to know him.
Listen to the stories of how Jerry navigated the growing and invigorating world of aviation in the 1940s and 1950s, when flight was still new to the world. Lucky to be in a time and place where aviation was booming and be in a high school with aviation classes, Jerry had his pilot’s license before he learned to drive a car.
Trained as an airplane mechanic, pilot, and instructor, and graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Jerry turned business principles on their heads to establish remarkable relationships with customers and employees.
