Flashman plays a central role and reveals that he was responsible for the disgrace of one British general, the capture of another, and for one of the biggest debacles in British military history.

Not quite as good as previous books

The really like this Flashman much more than his uncle. Thomas is a more likeable guy, although a coward and somewhat immoral he is not as disgusting as his uncle. Anyway I really enjoyed the previous books but this one was not quite as good, it had less funny episodes and it dragged on a bit. I will still move to the next book but recommend skipping this one.

Very Good, but I prefer the original Flashman

I bought this by mistake. I thought I was buying the fifth book in the original Flashman series. At first I was confused, but I caught on quickly. Thomas Flashman, the protagonist, isn't as racist, misogynistic, or generally reprehensible as his nephew. This makes the story a bit less fun IMHO. Overall, the story was not as snarky - which I also prefer. Harrison, the narrator, was very good, but David Chase was able to capture the entitlement and condescension of Harry Flashman to perfection. Harrison just suffers by comparison.

Another Enjoyable Read

I continue to follow Flashman as he bumbles, stumbles and fornicates though questionable situations. I enjoy the books enough that I ignore the question "could this really happen?" and just go with it. This book provides an interesting segment of history of which the US education system is quite deficient. A well written story that kept me interested for the duration. I highly recommend.

Another great Flashman tale

Robert Brightwell once again proves that he's a master of combining history with a humorous and moving narrative. The narration is as excellent as the story. Highly recommended.

Boring and terrible narration

My title says it all. Not the original flash man by a mile. The AI narration is ridiculously bland as is this more modern flashy. Snoozy.
