The children form a club to do their part for the war-effort - first and foremost helping Mother, of course.

Cleverly spun story!
This is a precious story of 5 children (plus neighbors) who find amusement and creativity in the midst of wartime difficulties. Their desire to better the places around them is heroic. They also get into plenty of mischief to make the book humorous and amusing.
