This book is awesome

loved it. narrator was awesome. a lot of reviews are unhappy with the ending, but I'm good with it. makes me want a sequel.

Evil Incarnate

This book references how much of the happenings are like the movie The Exorcist, well it is. The biggest difference is the evil has more control and is much, much sneaker. At times this is a depraved book. Narration is perfect.

This was a fantastic book full of rich imagery and a tense, well written story. The characters are very interesting and the pacing is well done. With the excellent narration, this was a great listening experience. I highly recommend this book!

This started as a novella called Exorcist Road. Exorcist Falls is a continuation, so Road is presented here first.

A 30 year old virgin priest, Father Jason Crowder, whose faith is sometimes wavering, is asked by a cop friend to come and look at the cop's nephew, who is acting strangely. What he finds is a 14 year old boy possessed by a demon and claiming to be the Sweet 16 serial killer. These murders are all of girls on their 16th birthdays and resemble Jack the Ripper's murders. Jason gets assigned to the case along with his mentor, Father Sutherland. The night of the exorcism, Danny's partner is also there to help restrain the boy. Turns out the demon reads minds by touch so whenever he touches someone, he knows their deepest, darkest thoughts. Danny's partner's daughter will be turning 16 shortly. But the demon implies that the partner is the killer! But he also implies that everyone else in the room is the killer as well. This leads to some awkward situations, including one that didn't quite make sense as a character is thought to be the killer and acts like he is hiding something. However, after the exorcism, Jason figures out who the killer really is. And despite the fact that the demon left the teenage boy's body, it is not gone. And Father Crowder is having a hard time keeping the demon at bay, especially when it tries to kill him but strikes a deal that he will let Jason live as long as Jason let's the killer continue his spree!

A crazy twisted story, but one that you will not want to stop listening to. Janz has created a really sensational story and keeps the story moving through twists and turns. Matt Godfrey is fantastic as the narrator. He does some great voices and accents (although this is Chicago, and Danny often sounded a little New York-ish). His gruffness as the demon really came through and made him menacing and mischievous at the same time.

Demons, Serial Killers and Sketchy Priests!

EXORCIST FALLS was so much demonic fun, I don't even know where to begin!

Narrated by Matt Godfrey, this audiobook starts out with the novella EXORCIST ROAD. A completely off the wall story of demonic possession with so many twists and turns, this reader didn't know which way was up!

I'm not going to get into the plot-exorcism is involved- which is plain from the get-go. What makes this book exciting and different is the twists and the loads of action within. Not only do we have the demon and the priest, we have an extremely depraved serial killer-and perhaps more than one. Father Crowder, the protagonist, isn't a completely good guy either-he often gets a bit over- zealous, (over-righteous?), in his thinking, which leads him down some uncommonly sinful roads.

My only criticism is the fact that towards the end of the tale the twists began to feel contrived. Honestly, though? I was having so much fun by then that I really didn't care. The final scene was such a gleeful delight, I would have overlooked a LOT worse. I'm grinning just thinking about it!

As I mentioned above, Matt Godfrey narrated (the hell out of )this story, and his voice and pacing were perfect. There were a few hairy scenes that I'm sure must have been difficult to get through, but he made it sound easy. He also sounded like he was having a great time, which only added to MY enjoyment.

If demonic possession all mixed up with a mysterious serial killer and sketchy priests sounds good to you, I highly recommend you give EXORCIST FALLS a try. I've never read anything else quite like it!

Creepy and Highly Recommend

I received an audible code via Audiobook Boom for an honest review. There was no compensation for this review and everything that follows is my opinion and mine alone.Exorcist Falls is a double feature of sorts that center around possession and the main character Father Jason Crowder. It is divided in half with the novella, Exorcist Road setting the tone and backstory to Exorcist Falls. You don't necessarily need to read one before the other, but if you do, the story becomes more.If that made any sense… what I mean by more, I mean that the emotional response to the story is more impactful.Anyways, the book does illicit quite a few emotions. I found myself yelling at the book as well as turning it off many times during my time of listening. That doesn't happen often. But this did that.I also suggested this read to two of my friends. It's a book I would read again.For the narration, the narrator really brings the story to life. I usually find male narrators a hit and miss. This is only because female voices tend to be difficult. That said, there wasn't an issue determining who was female or male when the narration was without dialogue cues. The narrator also made Father Crowder more relatable and human.All in all, the writing was awesome and the narrator was a good choice. I will definitely be cool with reading the book again (I'm not much of a rereading kind of gal). It is perfect for the Fall and Winter season.Final Rating: 4/5

Brutal stuff here!

This unabridged audio contains two excellent connected stories of demonic possession. One is a novella that sets the scene for the novel to follow. You’ll want to read/listen to them back to back because they’re both horrifyingly hard to put down.

EXORCIST ROAD sets everything up and is a pretty complete story on its own about a young teen being savaged by a demon and who is suspected of being a murderer. Is it all an act or is a true case of demon possession? Two priests are called in to investigate and perform an exorcism. The younger, inexperienced priest discovers some horrifying secrets about the family and nearly everyone soon becomes a suspect in the Sweet Sixteen Killings.

EXORCIST FALLS continues the story of the young priest who has been shaken but not destroyed by all he has experienced. He is now very haunted and conflicted but I can’t tell you why. The search for the Sweet Sixteen Killer continues and it’s pretty much non-stop action from here on out. There’s a little side of lust and a budding romance brought over from EXORCIST ROAD that I felt completely out of place in both storylines considering the trauma the woman recently experienced. Her character was woefully underdeveloped which probably explains my disbelief of her “romance” storyline. The last thing I’d be looking for after all of that was some love from a new guy. The reader is continually told that she is amazing but I didn’t feel her amazingness was ever shown which is kind of a shame. All of the men are very well developed though and she’s a bit player so it’s a minor nitpick, really. I loved the Jason Crowder character so much. A tormented priest with a horrible backstory and a demon ready to exploit all of his human weaknesses? Yep, you’ve got my attention.

Both stories are pitch black and ghoulish and very graphic. Terrible things are said and terrible deeds are done and I loved it but it may not be for everyone as the scenes are so realistically described you can pretty much picture it all going on very clearly. Maybe a little too clearly in some cases!

I can easily recommend the audiobook narrated by Matt Godfrey who has such a down to earth, calming voice he makes even the evilest of deeds go down a little easier. He does an excellent sinister demon voice too! Don’t miss it if you love this kind of story.

Horror in time for halloween

Horror for the holidays

I can't listen to too much horror because it really messes with my mood. But when i do want to be little bit scared i really hope it's also quality literature.

Jolly good time. Don't read alone in the dark.

Narration was stellar. Laughing at a lot of dialog, because it was meant to be sarcasm. It worked. Story had a lot of cursing and gore. The novela was well written. The narrator though. He was awesome.
