Are You Trapped in the Addiction Maze?

Addiction is a black hole that threatens to engulf our entire society. In the US alone, over 100 million people are addicted, and according to the World Health Organization, over 3.3 million people die from alcohol related deaths alone each year. Billions of dollars spent on prevention and treatment have yet to slow the ever-rising rate of addiction-related deaths. The current models have failed.

Exit the Maze arose from Dr. Donna Marks’ three decades of personal and professional experience as a psychotherapist and educator. She has distilled these lessons down to the essentials:

Learn about the one addiction, and how once we acknowledge and identify the originating cause, we can employ the one cure.

Discover why willpower doesn’t work, and what you can do to leave your addiction behind like a bad relationship, and never want to go back.

Find out the number one reason most addiction treatment fails and what to do about it.

Well Done! Hopeful! Inspiring!

This author has courageously shared her own journey thru the maze and has gracefully shown us how to find the exit of our own maze. Thank you, Dr. Marks for carrying this message to others.

Drags a bit in the beginning, but speaks turth.

I was really mainly responding to another reviw (H Shaw something) who doesn't know at what the fuck he's talking about ("most people stop or slow down their adictive behavior and stop going to 12 step programs - Shaw, shut up that kind of talk can KILL you idiot) obviously you know nothing about death in the rooms. Some addictions With 12 steps programs we can arrest, but the Author is referring to how we look for other Addictions, and how 12 stesp programs although very god only help stop the seeking of the addiction (Symptoms) but doesn't address the CAUSES. So we keep looking for another fix. I've sen EXACTLY what the Authro is talking about many mnay times over and over for decades. She's on to something.

Outdated one size fits all simplistic approach

It is well known that the majority of people who have had a maladaptive relationship to a substance or behavior have either stopped or drastically cut down on the said addiction. The majority of people who stop do not go into recovery programs or 12 step meetings. This book makes it seem like every Single step regardless of the addiction is the difference between living the same life and ending up in jail or dead. Furthermore, the disease model of addiction has been thoroughly debunked. This book is stuck in the last century. I really don’t get glowing glowing reviews. I stopped halfway into the third chapter.
