Karma is a bitch – und der Tod schadet dem Teint Was hat man falsch gemacht, wenn auf den Abschied aus der Firma gleich noch der Abschied aus dem Leben folgt? Börnie, gewesene (und jetzt verwesende) Marketingexpertin bei Schön Cosmetics, stellt sich diese Frage aus gegebenem Anlass. Denn als sie auf dem Büroboden aufwacht, merkt Börnie, dass sie ermordet wurde. Wer zum Aasgeier hat ihr das angetan? Etwa ihr Ex-Verlobter Yannick, der sie mit Kollegin Bine betrügt? Oder die hinterlistige Bürohyäne Frau Hagedorn? Da Börnie nicht die einzige Angestellte der Kosmetikfirma bleibt, die ihren Dienstvertrag mit dem Leben unfreiwillig auflösen muss, ist auch diese Frage von einigermaßen brisanter Aktualität. Weil die Polizei keinen leichenblassen Schimmer hat, muss frau selber ran. Sterben ist eben auch nicht mehr das, was es mal war!

Weil dich überhaupt keiner hören kann! Naja fast: Auf die kürzlich bei Schön wegrationalisierte Reinigungskraft Jenny und Medium Kai-Uwe ist immerhin Verlass. Zugegeben, die kulturellen Hürden in der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Lebenden und Gerade-nicht-mehr-Lebenden sind nicht unbeträchtlich. Und ein Medium mag übersinnliche Wahrnehmungen haben – bei gleichzeitig unterirdischer Kombinationsgabe benötigt Kai Uwe mehr als nur etwas geistigen Beistand, um sich im Wirrwarr von Bürointrigen, Betriebsspionage und Bordellbesuchen zurechtzufinden. Wird es dem etwas anderen Ermittlertrio gelingen, Börnies Mörder dingfest zu machen, ehe der gesamte Personalstamm von Schön Cosmetics ein unschönes Ende nimmt?
