Needs Editing!!!

This really needed some editing, the narrator would often repeat lines, at one point she tried a line 3 times then went blah and tried again. At one point the turning of pages was audible, and she would call Mr. Elton Mr. Elliott instead.

CHOOSE A DIFFERENT VERSION OF THIS BOOK!

While Jane Austen remains one of my favorite authors, and Emma is well-written and amusing, this recording is atrocious. The narrator's droning voice leaves much to be desired. All characters seem to speak with the same voice, accent, inflections and cadence. At times it's impossible to know who is speaking in a conversation. In addition to this, the second part of the download has not been properly edited. There are many places where the narrator did more than one take, and all versions are included. This creates almost a stutter of repeated phrases and sentences. Extremely unprofessional. Do yourself a favor, and choose a different narration of the book.

Great story, but it seems like they didn't bother to edit the narration. The reader restarts sentences often enough to be disruptive to the flow. Otherwise, it's fine.

I love Jane Austen, and I thought this was a recording I had listened to before, but it is clear it isn’t. It sounds like it was never edited. There are parts that repeat, sentences or phrases, like the narrator didn’t like how the line came out and they intended to go back, but no one ever did. The wrong name for one of the characters is used multiple times- sometimes in the same section as the correct name. Just disappointing.

Un-edited terrible reading

The reader/voice actor was very mechanical, hard to follow since everything was read in much the same tone. And clearly wasn't edited, she stops frequently and goes back over a line sometimes 3 or 4 times, rustles pages, clears throat etc. I would have never purchased this had I known!

issues with recording

What disappointed you about Emma?

Story was amazing as usal from Jane Austen the issue was with the recording. Several times lines were repeated and once it was as if they were turning pages and in sound booth, you could hear it all. Very odd.

What didn’t you like about Jane Leclercq’s performance?

Not much variety in the character's voices so sometimes it was hard to tell which character was speaking.

I guess you get what you pay for. lots if mistakes not edited out. at one point she flubbed the line and then said blablablabla...not edited out. some lines read couldn't distinguish who was speaking. not good at all.

Terrible editing

Producer/s did not remove "do over" phrases. Throughout the audio book there are repeated phrases where the narrator is getting 2nd and 3rd takes of that particular part, and these were not removed/edited out. Distracting and annoying. Otherwise the book itself is fine. Since Jane Austen's "Emma" has been reviewed many times by others, I thought the editing problem should be mentioned. I wish I had returned this and gotten a different version of "Emma. "

Errors with recording

There are quite a few errors with the audio recording for this book. The editor clearly left in many instances of the reader correcting or changing her intonation for certain passages. The result is a repitition of certain lines in different tones that can frustrate the listener. However, this is overall a very pleasing and decent version of a classic.
