Acerca de esta escucha
If Emily hadn't gone to Annie Richmond's party, she would never have met the impossibly irresistible Rory Balniel - never have married him and been carried off to the wild Scottish island of Irasa to live in his ancestral home. She'd never have met the wild and mysterious Marina, a wraith from Rory's past, nor her brother, the disagreeable Finn Maclean. And she would never have been caught stealing roses in a see-through nightie....

Historia
A lighthearted, fun and romantic romp from the much-loved classic author Jilly Cooper. Prudence had been overjoyed when Pendle invited her home for the weekend to meet his family. Then she met his brother, Jack - handsome, married and only too ready to take over with Pru if Pendle didn't get a move on. It was only when she noticed the way Pendle looked at Jack's wife, Maggie, that it began to dawn on Pru that this weekend looked like a nonstop game of changing partners....

As soon as Octavia caught a glimpse of Jeremy, she knew she just had to have him. It didn't matter that he'd just got engaged to an old school friend of hers, Gussie. An invitation to join Gussie and Jeremy for a cosy weekend on a canal barge came like a gift from the gods. However, the other part of the foursome was tycoon Gareth Llewellyn, and he certainly managed to thwart her plans....

A classic collection of journalism from the legendary Jilly Cooper, narrated by Pandora Sykes. Wonderfully warm and astonishingly acerbic, Jilly’s observations from her days as a much-loved newspaper columnist cover everything on sex, socialising and survival - from marriage and friendship; the minutiae of family life and the tedium of going to visit people for the weekend; to the stress of hosting dinner parties and the descent of middle age.

Harriet Poole was shattered when her brief affair with Simon Villiers, Oxford's leading playboy, ended abruptly, leaving her penniless, alone and pregnant. Still hopelessly in love with Simon, she took baby William and buried herself in deepest Yorkshire as nanny to the children of Cory Erskine, a somewhat eccentric scriptwriter. A whole host of visitors began to arrive to disrupt Harriet's peaceful routine: first Cory's estranged wife, Noel, then his brother, Kit, and finally, of all people, Simon....

Years ago, Juliet left a little piece of her heart in Paris - and now, separated from her husband and with her children flying the nest, it's time to get it back! She puts on her best red lipstick, books a cosy attic apartment near Notre-Dame and takes the next train out of London. Arriving at the Gare du Nord, the memories come flooding back: bustling street cafés, cheap wine in candlelit bars and a handsome boy with glittering eyes. But Juliet has also been keeping a secret for over two decades - and she begins to realise it's impossible to move forwards without first looking back.

Narrator was too stuffy
I remember this book from years ago. I was obsessed with Jilly Cooper popcorn romances. This books did not live up to my memories. First of all, the narrator was too stuffy. Emily was a silly girl and this woman was not silly. Felt like she should have been reading something more serious. The story was good but not great and the I never felt the heartbreak. Maybe my life was simpler but this book just didn't cut it. Maybe with a different narrator.
