Acerca de esta escucha
Elizabeth McGovern reads this classic American novel. Little Women is one of the best-loved children's stories of all time, based on the author's own youthful experiences. It describes the family life of the four March sisters living in a small New England community. Christmas won't be the same this year for Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, as their father is away fighting in the Civil War, and the family has fallen on hard times.
Meg, the eldest, is pretty and good-natured; Jo, the tomboy, nurses an ambition to be an author; Beth is a delicate child of 13 with a taste for music and Amy, the baby of the family, is a blonde beauty of 12.
The story of their domestic adventures, their attempts to overcome their poverty, their friendship with the neighbouring Lawrences, and their later love affairs has been treasured for generations.

Abridgment
This is not the full unabridged story; I’m surprised that’s not mentioned in the description but I suppose I should have looked more closely at the time stamp. It’s a nice abridgment for kids and Elizabeth McGovern does a lovely job but I wanted more!

Not the best
It was not the original book that is for sure because it’s not detailed at all which I was thinking it would be the original so kinda mad but other than that it’s a great book for younger kids to listen to because it is not as fetus

It’s only the first chunk.
This would be fantastic but it ends way before the book does. The performance is perfect and I want the rest.

This isn't abridged, it's butchered!!
This is NOT the classic book, "Little Women"! The omission of Jo and Beth at the seashore might generously be excused as "abridgement", but this omits half the book! There is no mention of Meg and John's marriage and subsequent children. No story of Jo rejecting Laurie's proposal, of Jo's disappointment when Amy gets to accompany Aunt March to Europe. No story of Laurie going to Europe to learn the business, there comforting Amy at Beth's death, and ultimately falling in love with her. There is no mention of Jo going to New York to care for the children of Marmee's friend, nor of Jo meeting and falling in love with Professor Baer. No discussion of learning to write truth from the heart as Jo finally did in, "My Beth". One needs to know most of this to understand the sequels, "Little Men" and, "Jo's Boys". I feel like I have been highjacked!"

It’s not the original book
The narrative is from another book. Where is the original one? There is no one original book in the Plus Library.
