"Eine kurze Geschichte von fast allem" nennt sich das charmanteste Stück Größenwahn seit der Jahrtausendwende. Bill Bryson hat damit einen Welterfolg gelandet. Bequemer als mit diesem Hörbuch kannst du profundes Universalwissen nicht aufsaugen! Erzähler Oliver Rohrbeck weiß zudem genau, an welchen Stellen der Autor beim Verfassen seines Werks leicht geschmunzelt haben muss. Jedenfalls hat es noch nie zuvor jemand geschafft, einen Fadenwurm und Cameron Diaz so dermaßen sinnvoll in einem einzigen Satz unterzubringen. Entertainment im Hörsaal ist ja auch nicht per Naturgesetz verboten!
Du erlebst also deutlich mehr als nur eine beschleunigte Achterbahnfahrt durch die Welt- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte. An diesem - im besten Sinne - populärwissenschaftlichen Werk müssen sich zukünftige Versuche dieser Art messen lassen. Gestandene Wissenschaftler haben an "Eine kurze Geschichte von fast allem" ebenso ihre Freude wie Quiz-Kandidaten, die noch einen Crash-Kurs zu fast allem benötigen. Was alle Menschen aber fast immer wollen: intelligentes Amüsement, bei dem man nebenbei etwas lernt.
