A German Shepherd police dog witnesses a murder and if his owner - an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief - is convicted of the crime, the dog could be put down.
Few rival Andy Carpenter's affection for dogs, and he decides to represent the poor canine. As Andy struggles to convince a judge that this dog should be set free, he discovers that the dog and his owner have become involved unwittingly in a case of much greater proportions than the one they've been charged with.
Andy will have to call upon the unique abilities of this ex-police dog to help solve the crime and prevent a catastrophic event from taking place.
David Rosenfelt, a native of Peterson, New Jersey, is a graduate of NYU. He was the former marketing president for Tri-Star Pictures before becoming a writer of novels and screenplays.

As usual, quite wonderful
David Rosenfelt has won my heart with his 'doggie' mysteries. I was so very happy to discover this latest one. I have them all in my library and they are the only books I listen to more than once. Grover Gardner is the perfect reader for Andy Carpenter. Mr. Rosenfelt's sense of humor is great - he has me laughing frequently throughout. And I love all the characters, even Edna! Highly recommend; even more so if you love dogs and a good laugh like I do.

Rosenfelt and Gardner never disappoint
Andy Carpenter stands up for the wrongly accused and makes you laugh while he's doing it. The narrator, Grover Gardner, is perfect. I have listened to 8 of these so far. I try to pepper them in between others so I don't run through the series too quickly. Rosenfelt's characters are quirky, they frequently make you laugh, and the story always keeps you guessing. If you're looking for a fast paced whodunnit, look no further.

Excellent Listen
Once again David Rosenfelt has written a winner. When you listen to a book where a lawyer is defending a dog you wonder how the author can possibly make this interesting. Rosenfelt is a master. The characters are entertaining and the story believeable and interesting. If you would like to be entertained then this book is a must.

Another Great Listen from David Rosenfelt!
You don't have to love dogs to enjoy these books but if you share our love for our 4-legged friends you will especially enjoy their inclusion as one of the main characters. These stories, including Dog Tags, are suspenseful enough to keep you guessing but with such a humorous "tone" that you are also thoroughly entertained. It's a great combination! I am looking forward to the next installment in what has become one of my favorite series.

Great read and even better to listen to
I thoroughly enjoy all the Andy Carpenter series. they are fast paced, full of twists and turns and frequently have unexpected outcomes. Have listened to them all. Grover Gardener captures the personality of Andy exceptionally.

Andy you dog.
I’m a huge fan of the Andy Carpenter stories. There are a few in the series that have more of a government conspiracy tone to them than just the plan old murder ones. They are not my favorites, but they all have the humor and the gang, so all it right with the world again. Narrator is the best for this character. This is my second time listening to the series so worth the money.

D. Rosenfelt & Andy Carpenter come through again
The last installment of the Andy Carpenter series is another hit. The reader Grover Gardner is fantastic as always and the plot is terrific. Intricate plot which comes together in the end. For those of you that have not read this series, this is a 'who-dunnit' series through the eyes of a lawyer Andy Carpenter, funny and sarcastic. You could read this one first but the correct order is to read: Open and Shut first , then First Degree, then you can read any of the others after that. Sudden Death is another great book
