Do You Feel Like I Do? is the incredible story of Peter Frampton's positively resilient life and career told in his own words for the first time. His monu-mental album Frampton Comes Alive! spawned three top-20 singles and sold eight million copies the year it was released (more than 17 million to date), and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in January 2020.

Frampton was on a path to stardom from an early age, first as the lead singer and guitarist of the Herd and then as cofounder - along with Steve Marriott - of one of the first supergroups, Humble Pie. Frampton was part of a tight-knit collective of British '60s musicians with close ties to the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who. This led to Frampton playing on George Harrison's solo debut, All Things Must Pass, as well as to Ringo Starr and Billy Preston appearing on Frampton's own solo debut. By age 22, Frampton was touring incessantly and finding new sounds with the talk box, which would become his signature guitar effect.

Frampton remembers his enduring friendship with David Bowie. Growing up as schoolmates, crossing paths throughout their careers, and playing together on the Glass Spider Tour, the two developed an unshakable bond. Frampton also shares fascinating stories of his collaborative work with Harry Nilsson, Stevie Wonder, B. B. King, and members of Pearl Jam. He reveals both the blessing and curse of Frampton Comes Alive!, opening up about becoming the cover boy he never wanted to be, his overcoming substance abuse, and how he has continued to play and pour his heart into his music despite an inflammatory muscle disease and his retirement from the road.

Peppered throughout his narrative is the story of his favorite guitar, the Phenix, which he thought he'd lost in a fiery plane crash in 1980. But in 2011, it mysteriously showed up again - saved from the wreckage. Frampton tells of that unlikely reunion here in full for the first time, and why the miraculous reappearance is emblematic of his life and career as a quintessential artist.

Frampton Comes Alive Where He Should Be

A thoroughly enjoyable and honest self-accounting in which I learned so much about one of my long-time faves who I “discovered” before “FCA”. I thought I knew so much having listened to many an early radio interview he gave pre-fame. Peter Frampton takes us on his incredible journey, shares his highs and lows and so many special moments. He really lets us in on his life.

Fantastic memoir!!

For any Peter Frampton fan, this memoir is a must read/listen to!!! Especially now that he's battling the insidious nerve disorder.

I loved hearing Peter narrate this book. Every time he talked about the different tours he was on, I was brought back to the memory of all the concerts I've been to of his over the span of his career, ending in the final tour where I saw him in Phoenix......sniff :(

I enjoyed hearing about the friendships he developed over the years with various artists, like David Bowie, Ringo Starr, Steve Miller, etc. I felt .like I had an inside view of his amazing life with all the ups and downs financially and in all his relationships, as well as his struggle with sobriety.

I'm inspired, at 59 years young, to learn to play guitar. I bought one and am learning. Wish I had an ounce of the Frampton guitar magic. One can only dream!

I Felt It

Great book. Found out a lot about Peter that I had absolutely no clue about. I'm really happy he narrated. A bit of a sad ending but we all knew he had IMS.

Peter Frampton tells his story with grace and intelligence. The stories are always interesting and hint at a greater depth of understanding.

An amazing memoir from an amazing man!

Oh my gosh, I loved this book. Peter is such an inspiration, and what an amazing life he has had. He is so humble, and I loved hearing this book in his own voice (he is just delightful). So many great stories about his experiences, all of the amazing artists he has met and collaborated with, his struggles, and his transparency with the dark periods in his life. He is the real deal. And I loved the story about being reunited with his beloved guitar and how that was woven into different places in the book. I will always be a huge fan, and I have fond memories of the Guitar Circus (I was the lucky one that won the signed guitar when he was in Seattle 😊) and his finale where he was joined by his son Julian. Right after reading this book, I listened to Frampton Comes Alive in its entirety (once again). Thank you Peter for all you have given us ❤️.

That I got to hear Peter read his story to me means the world to me! I have loved him since 1976.

A tender love story of the ups and downs of a famous arena rocker

Sometimes it meanders, But it tells some of the loveliest stories with a gentle outlook. It covers meteoric rise to fame and come uppances and reckonings. All told as if I was sitting in the living room with him and he was sharing stories. Everyone is the star of their own story so he treats himself with a bit more tenderness than the media did. But I allow him a huge swath of grace because his life and his talent has impacted my own greatly. I do feel like he crafted a mature beautiful book. It is written with the wisdom of someone looking back on the life they lived not the fervor of someone in it. He is accountable, self deprecating and it wound it way through his life with nostalgic charm.

It’s not perfectly written nor should it be because he is not a rider. He’s a musician and I am thankful that he shared his gift and his memories in this book. I am blessed to have seen him perform over a dozen times. He is as kind on stage as he was in this book and I sense we got to see a good bit of who he really is.

I still love his way as much as I did when my 12 year old heart played the grooves out of that album.

I recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a positive look at a life well lived.
