Da Dittes familie flytter til en ny by, beslutter hendes far, at det er en god anledning for Ditte til at droppe den farlige ridning og begynde til håndbold. Ditte er slet ikke enig, og da Sofie fra den nye klasse fortæller om rideskolen Ponygården, melder Ditte sig til mandagsholdet. Men det er ikke let at gå til ridning uden at blive opdaget - og slet ikke, hvis man vil ride flere gange om ugen. Ditte plejer ikke at lyve for sine forældre, men hvad skal hun ellers gøre, når hun ikke kan leve uden heste, og da slet ikke uden Lady...?
Ditte og Lady er første bog i serien om Hestene på Ponygården, om Ditte, Sofie, Kitt, Steffi og Maja - fem piger, som egentlig kun har én ting til fælles: HESTE. Hver bog fortæller historien om en af pigerne og hendes pony. Om fællesskabet i stalden, stævnerne og konflikterne pigerne imellem.

Dette er første og meget vellykkede bind i en helt ny hesteserie af Ina Bruhn... Bogen er let tilgængelig, handlingen vedkommende og sproget flydende. Heste på Ponygården er en kvalitetsbog og vil givetvis få succes hos målgruppen. Den bør have en plads på enhver hestehylde på skolebiblioteket.
