Die gutherzige Olivia lässt ihren Job in New York sausen, um eine kleine Pension in ihrer Heimatstadt Harpers Ferry zu übernehmen, die ihre Großeltern ihr hinterlassen haben. Bestürzt stellt Olivia fest, dass die Pension im Grunde pleite ist und sie einen Haufen Schulden hat.
Sie ist kurz davor den Traum zu begraben, als ausgerechnet ihr Ex-Chef, der arrogante und zugleich gutaussehende Milliardär Henry vor ihrem Tresen auftaucht.
Er scheint nicht nur an einem Zimmer interessiert und bietet Olivia einen etwas merkwürdigen Deal an, der jedoch die Pension retten könnte. Sie willigt ein und als Teil der Abmachung verbringen die beiden einen gemeinsamen Abend. Es fließt reichlich Alkohol und die Hemmungen fallen...
Henry verfolgt jedoch eigene Absichten und plant sein nächstes Millionenprojekt, eine gigantische Müllhalde direkt neben dem Hotel. Das würde die Idylle für immer zerstören und ein Todesstoß für die Pension bedeuten. Aber er hat nicht mit dem gerechnet, was die bodenständige Olivia in ihm auslöst.
Olivia kann es nicht fassen und will Henry zur Rede stellen, doch dann sind ihre Tage überfällig... Was soll sie nur tun?
