Vor fast sieben Jahrzehnten ist der Astronaut Perry Rhodan als erster Mensch auf Außerirdische getroffen. Seither hat die Menschheit ihren Einflussbereich ausgedehnt und ferne Sonnensysteme besiedelt.
Dann aber werden im Jahr 2102 die Erde und der Mond in den fernen Kugelsternhaufen M 3 versetzt. Mit dem Großraumschiff SOL bricht Rhodan auf, um dieses Geschehen rückgängig zu machen, und strandet 10.000 Jahre in der Vergangenheit.
In der Milchstraße dieser Epoche tobt ein erbitterter Krieg zwischen den Arkoniden und den Maahks. Schon bald werden die terranischen Raumfahrer darin verstrickt. Denn die Maahks sind in den Besitz einer kriegsentscheidenden Information gelangt.
Atlan und Perry Rhodan wollen die entsprechenden Unterlagen bergen und so den Untergang des Arkon-Imperiums verhindern. Allerdings gefährden sie damit ihre Zukunft - womöglich gerät durch ihre Handlungen DIE ZEIT AUS DEN FUGEN...
