Acerca de esta escucha

When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory, a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery: a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the President, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a deadly team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all.©2003 Dan Brown (P)2003 Simon & Schuster Inc. All Rights Reserved, AUDIOWORKS is an imprint of Simon & Schuster Inc. Reseñas de la Crítica

"Brown moves into new territory with his latest. It's an excellent thriller: a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace, with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. He's also done his research, folding in sophisticated scientific and military details that make his plot far more fulfilling than the norm." (Publishers Weekly)
"A dazzling high-tech adventure...Brown proves once again that he is among the most intelligent and dynamic of authors in the thriller genre." (Library Journal)
"This is pretty exciting stuff...and Brown certainly does have a knack for spinning a suspenseful yarn." (Booklist)

Least favorite book.

This would be my least favorite out of all the books his written. I just couldn't enjoy the plot twist and story compared to how his other books are. he's still my favorite author.

great stuff

It doesn't matter if you are a scientist, mathemetician or a NASA expert, this book is grest stuff. The plot thickens with every twist and turn at each venue. I like the way , the author changes venues every chapter and keeps us in suspense. This book is a non-putdownable and I finished it in one sitting. This makes it a winner when you can't even wait to see whats coming next.

Get this book!

I've read (listened to) three other books by Dan Brown ("Digital Fortress", "Angels and Demons", and "The Da Vinci Code") and have enjoyed them all. "Deception Point" is no exception!

In typical Dan Brown style, he uses science to make things believable and interesting. This story is faced-paced and has several sub-plots working together until they come to a very satisfying end.

The identity of the villain (or "Controller") will surprise you, and the ending is so poetic. Just when you think the heroes are doomed to meet their end, Dan writes up something that helps them get away from the bad guys in one piece, and does it in a way that doesn't cause you to say, "Oh, come on!"

The narrator is outstanding, by the way. His deep, rich voice comes across clearly, keeps things moving, and doesn't get in the way like other books I've listened to. If I saw another book that he narrated, I probably get it just because of that fact.

This is a good read. Get this book!

Not a Da Vinci Code

I am always hesitant in reviewing an abridged version of a story, as I don't feel I have "heard the whole story". However, in this case, I did review the Da Vinci Code (abridged), and this book from Dan Brown doesn't match the combination of historical fact and fictional story woven into the Da Vinci Code. An interesting theme and theory, but the characters were shallow, and there wasn't the twists and turns of the Da Vinci Code. Again, this may be due to being the abridged version, but apples to apples, it doesn't compare.

Sorry Dan, this story sounds like someone else

The story had serious logic problems and the hero's were hard to get behind, since they were almost as bad as the "bad guys"

Abridged!

Typical Dan Brown, albeit Sans Langdon. Abridged for some unknown reason which I think took all the intrigue out of it.

Great Story, Told So So

This story is packed with adventure and intrigue, but not told as well as it could have been. The Protector by David Morrell is a similar type story told EXTREMELY well. I don't know how badly the abridgement affected the writing. Who knows, it may have IMPROVED it!

Still worth reading.

One the edge of my seat from the begining!!!!

WOW I haven't listened to Dan Brown in a while. Excellent plausible plot. You can really see the possibility of the story line.I didn't want to get out of my car!Rarely do I rate titles but when this book ended I knew I had to.
