The Dark Ages. At times, they were not so dark. At times, they were chaos.

The Romans left Briton years before. The great King Arthur has been gone two decades as well. There were scattered invasions, of course, but in one village, those of Celtic, Frisian, Angle, Saxon, Jutes, and even descendants of the Roman legion lived in peace. Kyleigh grew up there. Though she had been a foundling, she’d been taken in by a kind and learned couple and allowed all the learning she might enjoy with Father Peter. The greatest difficulty she had to deal with day by day was gently rejecting a dear friend who longed for marriage. Then everything changes when the self-proclaimed Lord Brogan, set on killing the population of the island, arrives with his hordes from the mainland. On that day, Kyleigh discovers that she is different. There is a voice that speaks to Kyleigh about magic. A magic within her.

Lord Rowan of Kenzie needs her, as does his ally, Padraic, Laird of the Northern Celts. Though their first encounters are contentious, Kyleigh discovers she is strangely drawn to both men.

Together, they will fight the dreaded Brogan, a battle compounded when they realize that a traitor walks within their ranks, a magical being as well. As Kyleigh discovers the truth about herself, she will face sorcery, trickery, and bitter battles for survival before there can be any hope for a truly magical future.
