Though SweetSpot is a work of fiction, the feelings inspiring Sweetspot are rooted in fact. For almost 25 years, author Marla Miller has been in association with the Santa Barbara Writers Conference, SBWC, first as a 'newby writer' and then as a workshop leader where she continues to present her workshops. SBWC, the brainchild of noted author and raconteur, Barnaby Conrad, thrives without his physical presence though during conference week, held each June, Mr. Conrad's essence is felt everywhere. His longtime friend and iconic writer, Ray Bradbury, each year opened the conference with his keynote that always inspired. SweetSpot is dedicated to them. Write on, Barny. Write on.
