Not one of my favorites

I can't believe she couldn't find another word than "Rye" smile...very annoying to hear

The new Wild West

I didn't like this as much as many of the books I have read by Tami Hoag. Perhaps be a use it was not so much a crime thriller a story of friends, betrayal, love, and yes, murder. It is a very good story. Just not one that grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

Truly enjoyed this audiobook. It really was exciting and pleasurable to listen to. The author kept me interested throughout the entire audiobook. I was very impressed by her story. I will definitely be buying more of her audiobooks.

I hate this narrator, and I hate the romance

What did you like best about Dark Paradise? What did you like least?

Best: It was entertaining, Least: You can tell this author is a romance novelist. The romance crap was driving me nuts. I wanted a mystery thriller, not some kind of whining, crying, sniveling, introspective crap on "the hard case around his heart hiding tenderness she could see" blah blah blah blah blah. It was repeated so often, I'm sure the book would've been half as long without it. I rolled my eyes more often than I can count. I also hated the narrator. You can tell she is a smoker, and she definitely is dehydrated bc you can hear the lack of spit smacking when she talks.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Cut out more than half of the romantic lovey dovey introspection and can-see-this-line-from-a-mile-away cheesy comments.

How could the performance have been better?

Get a narrator that DOESN'T SMOKE and ISN'T DEHYDRATED. She needs to drink more water, I can't stand the smacking noises her mouth makes. I had to stop midway between sentences more than once bc I couldn't take the grating on my nerves any more.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Loved the book but not the narrator!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story was very good but at times the author was a bit wordy about things that just didn't need to be ~ the narrator made the book seem very long ~ made me wish I had actually read the book

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joyce Bean?

Someone who gives female AND male voices distinction and character ~ the male voices almost all sounded the same and were (IMHO) just awful!

Dark paradise

It took me a long time to get through the story with the narrator. She was ok but did a poor job on voices. I wonder sometimes if the writers hear the story before it's published. They can make or brake the book. Especially when there is a man reader for a female main character. Anyway to the book. It was by no means a thriller or mystery it's a love story which was most of the book. It was ok

Love it. I hated that it had to end.

I love her books and it was even better because I love Joyce Bean. This is one I will probably listen to again.
