This is an excellent companion to Dante. Professor Esolen is knowledgeable and a good speaker.

How right order is perverted.

Love the voice and the theme. There is a right order of Love. Hell shows the penalty for breaking it. All is backwards there. The pain comes to life in these lectures.

an incredible in depth look at Dante!

If you've ever read Dante's inferno, you know it is an incredible work of art and genius. But it is not an easy read by any means. Having an expert such as Anthony Esolen walk with you through all of the historical and theological complexities is such a wonderful thing! It makes the text so much richer and it is truly a blessing! Everyone who loves Dante should listen to this!

Accidentally got it

Thought I was getting the book. I was going to return this but it was so helpful. I kept it it really saved me when I was reading this confusing book.

Word Pictures as Performance Were OUTSTANDING

Grandson (13) and I were discussing Hell but I wasn't making much of impression by myself. i put this on my Kindle Fire and we listened together. He's a good 13-year-old boy and went through the entire course. After listening to the course, he was amazed at how easy the instructor made it to understand. I didn't have him answer any questions - his eyes enlightened me that he understood the basics this time. I will want him to do an indepth study at another time.

The important thing is a child is becoming a man. Before hearing the course, he refused to accept GOD and Jesus. Now he wants to learn more about GOD and Jesus because he definitely doesn't want to go to Hell. Sometimes baby steps to conversion are okay as long as those steps are in the right direction.
