Kendall Waters is a successful defense attorney who moonlights for a money-laundering family in the desert town of Sawtooth, Arizona. She finds herself questioning everything after her client retires and leaves the business to his mysterious nephew, Alvaro.

Sparks don’t exactly fly when they meet, as he’s intimidating and standoffish. But Kendall is determined not to let her years of hard work for the family she cares about go to waste, so she accepts the nearly impossible assignment he gives her.

Alvaro Moreno is only focused on being the best head of the Moreno family business he can be. He’s determined to make his uncle proud and show him that he won’t be like his father. His plan is set, and nothing can deter him.

Until he meets Kendall.

At first, he can deny his attraction to her. She’s just their lawyer after all, and he has a job to do. But as time passes, his feelings become harder to ignore, eventually boiling over into everything he does. Now, she’s all he can think about. Realizing that he’s put her at risk, he can only hope it’s not too late.

Sacrifices are made, choices have consequences, and loyalty can be dangerous.

Looking forward to more Kendall and Alvaro!!

One of my favorite things about books is how they can surprise you when you least expect it. Take Dangerous Loyalty for example. We've all read stories like this with similar themes, but Lillie Locklyn took it and made it her own with characters you don't immediately love.

Yeah, weird huh? Just like in life we don't immediately trust and adore every person we meet. Sometimes that takes time, and Locklyn wrote a story with real characters with real emotions who had second thoughts and were skeptical about the rabbit hole they were about to fall into.

Kendall wasn't the defense attorney we've seen before. She did her job well, but she also worked the shady side of things for a man that has been like family to her. She did these things with good intentions because she was helping the man who had been like a father to her.

Enter Alvaro, not quite what she is used to, Kendall has to try extra hard with him. Not just keeping her feelings for him at bay but also getting him to trust her.

As the worlds of defense attorney and criminal (but not quite) combine and lives are put on the line these two as well as the rest of the Moreno family will have to work together to ensure everyone's safety.

The story itself was brilliant, and it kept me on my toes trying to guess what was going to happen next and if everything would actually work out as it should. A huge reason for that is Andrew Cortes who narrated this book with skill and a certain craft you don't see often.

The Secrets in Sawtooth series is just getting started and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for Kendall and Alvaro as well as everyone else in the Moreno world.
