Acerca de esta escucha
Les Liaisons dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) is a French epistolary novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.
First published in four volumes by Durand Neveu from March 23, 1782, the book cause scandal on its release.
The story, composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other, tells of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade others,The story, composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other, tells of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade othersThe story, composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other, tells of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade others, uncaring of those who face social ruin or whose hearts are broken. It depicts a decadent and corrupt aristocracy exposing the perversions of the so-called Ancien Regime. The relevance of this grew due to the ensuing the French Revolution.
Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderlos de Laclos (1741 - 1803) was a French novelist, official and army general.

'Ah for darkness...not the darkness of a house which coops up a man among furniture, but the darkness where he can be free!' Maurice Hall knows he must choose between living life in the shadows or denying himself a chance at love and fulfilment. Aware of his attraction to the same sex, in a time where it was considered unlawful and immoral to have homosexual desires, Maurice must decide whether to battle or submit to a prejudiced 20th-century English society.

Laurence Sterne’s most famous novel is a biting satire of literary conventions and contemporary 18th-century values. Renowned for its parody of established narrative techniques, Tristram Shandyis commonly regarded as the forerunner of avant-garde fiction. Tristram’s characteristic digressions on a whole range of unlikely subjects (including battle strategy and noses!) are endlessly surprising and make this one of Britain’s greatest comic achievements.

One of the best-loved of Nabokov's novels, Pnin features his funniest and most heart-rending character. Professor Timofey Pnin is a haplessly disoriented Russian emigre precariously employed on an American college campus in the 1950s. Pnin struggles to maintain his dignity through a series of comic and sad misunderstandings, all the while falling victim both to subtle academic conspiracies and to the manipulations of a deliberately unreliable narrator.

The Decameron is one of the greatest literary works of the Middle Ages. Ten young people have fled the terrible effects of the Black Death in Florence and, in an idyllic setting, tell a series of brilliant stories, by turns humorous, bawdy, tragic and provocative. This celebration of physical and sexual vitality is Boccaccio's answer to the sublime other-worldliness of Dante's Divine Comedy.

First appearing in 1782, Dangerous Liaisons is one of the most scandalous and controversial novels in European literature. The plot unfolds through a series of letters as the two main protagonists, the Vicomte de Valmont and the Marquise de Merteuil, attempt to bring about the seduction of a young woman. The epistolary nature of the novel gives a multi-faceted perspective of the action, which places the book firmly in the tradition of libertine literature.

Must hear, must read.
Eternal book, exquisite performed.
The book is a masterpiece of subtlety, challenging readers to examine where their demarcation lines of morality exist, what inequalities of gender - based social imposition remain and more.
The recording raises the stakes even further. Listening makes our access to the letters exchanged profoundly intimate.
Magnificent.

Awesome performance
I like this book very much, but the narrator did such a good job that I'm not even sure if it's the story o just hearing him that I like the most.

Faulty Recording--SKIPS & BREAKS
Story is sexy and torrid; the narrator has a comfortable, if rather too genial reading style. My complaint is that there are lapses in the narration, due to this being a recording of a cassette tape or CD. Audible should fix the skips and breaks before putting out audiobooks advertised as "only from Audible"--no?

Remastered from cassette tapes!!
This audio book was remastered from cassette tapes and sounds really terrible. Shame on you Audible for publishing something like this. The narrator even says "please turn cassette tape" in the middle of one of the chapters. Pathetic!

Good but long!
I knew what I was getting into. I like long stories but this one seemed unusally long. A french narrator, who's very good, reads the 200+ letters that compromise correspondence between two manipulators and other lesser characters in 18th century Paris. Fascinating as character studies but maybe too long. Also, a lot of deciphering, reading between the lines and if you let your attention drift, you lose what's going on as it is never told as a narrative but just letter after letter. Overall, good narrator, good characters, interesting.

Reveal Nothing, Suggest Everything
A delicious look into the life of the wicked and idle in the French Court. I found myself cackling at the witty banter between the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont. Highly recommend!

Amazing story.
This is a great story. I highly enjoyed listening to the audiobook and the reader did a fantastic job. My only complaint is that this audiobook was adapted from cassette and there is a spot where you are told to turn the tape over. This should have been edited out. It seems that during this spot part of the text of the book was missed. For a moment I was confused. Because the audiobook was cheep and the reader so good, it can be over looked. If it wasn't for that I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4. Besides this I highly recommend this audiobook. It is worth the listen.

good!
don't usually like epistolary novels but this was sufficiently scandalous to keep my interest. I enjoyed it, and I'm excited to compare it to the films

Total deceit
The retiring and performance are wonderful. Even if you already know the story, the intrigue continues to build to the end. The only problem is that the beginning of chapter three is missing half a letter. It would be great if Audible could re-upload its recording of the original audiotape.
