Acerca de esta escucha

The true story (on which the film Jeremiah Johnson was partially based) of John Johnson, who in 1847 found his wife and her unborn child had been killed by Crow braves. Out of this tragedy came one of the most gripping feuds - one man against a whole tribe - in American history.

good book

good story narrator could have been better, tried to sound moutain, came off sounding mentally challenged, made Johnson sound like and oaf more than dangerous no matter what the material related. The story however was awesome

FANTASTIC BOOK

This is by far my most favorite book of all time. The humor and fierceness and strong character development and storytelling just brought this tale to life! this is a must read for almost anyone I'd say.

The Movie had nothing on this

I'm a huge fan of Robert Redford's Jeremiah Johnson, but I have to admit that it's a distant second to this book. Understandably, you can't cram everything into a movie that you find in the book, but having an accurate account of the life of the legendary mountain man portrayed by the narrator is extremely satisfying to one who is hungry to learn as much as he can about Johnson. It was also interesting to see that DelQue was much of the book's support. There was much more to comment on, but I also want to give a huge note of gratitude to the narrator's performance...superb to say the least!.

Narrator

Narrator was a bit too slow. I listened at 1.25x speed which made it better but the sentences don’t always flow together that way. I would recommend reading the actual book, not necessarily listening to the audiobook.

Adventures in the Wild Wild Wilderness

If you are one of those types that gets offended by non-politically correct anything..do your blood pressure a small favor and skip this..for all others that want to experience tall tales of a folk-hero without the Hollywood cancel culture, you’ll enjoy this greatly. This book was originally published in the 1950s. So, set yer traps pilgrim and then set yerself down by the fahr for tales of the Wild West, courtesy of the Liver-Eater.

Enjoyed the story

The story was excellent, the narrator didn’t feel right for this book. Overall positive rating.

great story, great presentation

the reader's ability to capture the imagination and carry you back to the 1800s west in striking. The author's details regarding the harshness of this way of life is illuminating. great book

a great read

dont listen to the other reviewers who complained about the accents of the narrator being laid on thick, or about the pace of reading being slow, or that the characters were illiterate. this is a great read and of great historical relevance. I think the narrator did great with the accents and country people speak slow even today so pay those tenderfoot reviewers no mind.
