Rain, a 16-year-old from Maine, watches in horror as her peaceful, coastal town descends into cataclysmic chaos. Hysteria mounts, civility vanishes, and no one is safe. Just when Rain thinks things can't get any worse, a new nightmare reveals itself: she may be descended from aliens.
In a bid against vanishing time and cruel fate, Rain teams up with Ang, an able-bodied ally, to unravel the secrets of her extraterrestrial ancestry. Before humans entirely self-destruct and Vesta annihilates the world, can Rain and Ang find salvation in pursuing her alien ancestry? Or, at the very least, unearth some shred of comfort in each other?
