Dr. Jann Malbec, die einzige Überlebende der verunglückten ISA-Mission, ist auf dem Mars gestrandet. Die Erde sieht sie als Gefahr, jede Chance auf Rückkehr bleibt ihr verwehrt. Es gibt nur einen Ort, von dem er gekommen sein kann: aus der aufgegebenen Mine auf der anderen Seite des Jezero-Kraters, Kolonie Zwei. Ein Außenposten, von dem sie annahm, er sei längst tot. Aber wenn es der Besucher bis zu ihr geschafft hat, sind vielleicht noch andere am Leben?
Um das Rätsel zu lösen, muss sie eine gefährliche Reise durch den Krater antreten. Denn wenn sie nicht schnell Antworten findet, wird sie auf dem Mars sterben. Allein.
