The Energy Series -a thriller of Energetic Science

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This audiobook series TOPS my recommendations. It's science and sci fi and a fully developed and delivered diverse plotline.

Have you listened to any of Paul J. McSorley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only listened to Paul McSorley as he narrates Corkill's books. I listened to him in the first book and will follow him through the series

Any additional comments?

This is an excellent second book in the series. I think Mr Corkill should offer tidbits of the Dead adventure without mentioning the book directly. He explains enough to gleam the highlights, as needed, to relate the characters to one another. The way he mentions the first book is misleading that the books should be read in order. (Except 2 before 3, as it's a continuation). His life in the CIA was pre-Energy and seems to be slowly revealed as the series unfold.
My biggest quirk with the series are the weak female characters who seem to always throw themselves at the men (not just at Alex Cave, but any man). It really deteriorates the otherwise strongly built characters. Thus the missing star.
The moments are brief, but disappointing.
The multiple scenes overlap and strengthen the subplots and plot.
Did I miss the update on Christa?

Mr McSorley is a dynamic narrator choice for this series. His voice complements the author's work.

Cleaning the Atmosphere

Could it be that one of our ice ages wasn't planned but the work of aliens whose good intentions had been to clear the atmosphere of pollutants? That's the premise of Book 2 of the Alex Cave series. Although it builds on the events in Book 1, these adventures can be read as standalone, since pertinent characters and locations are reintroduced appropriately. A fair amount of Perils of Pauline action leads to an enjoyable frolic through the author's imagination. I am LISTENING to this series [AUDIO] and the superb narration adds to the drama and immediacy of the tale. This story would work well on the wide screen, too.

Good book. Kept me entertained throughout the entire book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

As with the first book, Alex Cave is the man!

What about Paul J. McSorley’s performance did you like?

Paul did a great job with the first book in this series and with 'Cold Energy' he did not disappoint!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Lots of excitement. The book will keep you on edge throughout.

Great Series, great book and can't wait for book 3!

Another fine adventure!

Cold Energy is definitely an excellent sequel to Dead Energy! It does a great job continuing some of the plot elements from the first book, while having a well-defined storyline of its own. Each of the main characters are again very likeable, while villainous characters keep you guessing as to what they're up to next. As with book 1, Cold Energy reminds me of the action-adventure style of the early works of Michael Crichton, with details that hint at deeper technical and geological understanding. But, happily, the reader is never bogged down by those details as her/she enjoys the narrative.

The narrator done a great job telling the story. I’m looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Great Story! Great Narration!

Cold Energy by James M Corkill is full of action, suspense, and thrilling details. I love the character of Alex Cave and find the narration by Paul J McSorley brings him to life. To me its important to be able to hear exactly whom is speaking and the narrator is perfect. He has so many distinguishable voices for the various characters, that I can easily visualize so much. I love the vivid imagery the author writes, and the unexpected twists. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. This book is the second in the Alex Cave series and a standalone listen. To me this book is more thriller than science fiction, but there are some things that makes one think of the possibilities in this story.
