Dans l'extrême nord du Cameroun où sévissent le changement climatique et les attaques de Boko Haram, Faydé, quinze ans, décide de rejoindre Srafata et Bintou, qui ont elles aussi été contraintes de devenir domestiques à Maroua. Alors qu'elles sont écrasées par leurs responsabilités vis-à-vis de leurs familles et qu'elles subissent viol, mauvais traitements et mépris de classe, les jeunes filles luttent pour survivre et se construire un avenir. Vives et attachantes, parfois désespérées, elles rêvent de réussite, de joie ou d'amour. Comment parviendront-elles à se frayer un chemin dans cet environnement où leur destin semble tout tracé ?
Un tableau bouleversant et romanesque sur la condition des femmes, qui parvient à nous rendre le Sahel terriblement proche.
