My little girl loved it

Don't you wish you had a friend like Cinderella?
A slice of life kinda story, is what I think this is. It makes the children show that a true princess not only cares about her reputation but how much she cares about the people surrounding her. A good lesson indeed to teach children.

The lack of knowledge of the writer as well as the character
The problem with Cinderella trying to teach the girl about being a princess was the writers lack of knowledge on what a princess really did in those days. So you got them doing what was only done once or twice a year rather than the real work during every day work.
