Reseñas de la Crítica

"[A] rollicking good ride. Caine's prose crackles with energy, as does her fierce and lovable heroine." (Publishers Weekly)

Weather Girl!!!

Everywhere Joann goes there are weather problems. She is funny resourceful and always horny for David. I enjoy see her get into trouble through her altruistic endowers. I am waiting for David to tell her that if you let me kill him in book one he would not be a problem now! But??? I don???t think that would matter, since dead does not necessary mean dead. Fast cars, weather hair, great shoes, and lots of attitude makes this series a fun read.

Weather Wardens !

This books are a refreshing departure from most of the Urban Fantasy out there. The weather is a character causing its own plot turns. Joanne, the main character has the worst luck in the universe, no matter how much she tries to help and do the right thing, bad karma follows her around. The writing is witty and fun even in the midst of unbelievable danger and tragic endings. One thing is for certain if you read this series you will never look at weather the same way again!

The pattern is wearing thin

Joanne:“I couldn’t reduce people to numbers and trend lines. Ma’at’s principles said the forest had to burn - but I’d fight every step, protect every tree, until the smoke choked me or I went up with the rest.
That was my nature.”

As much as I love Joanne’s moxie, the basic premise of each book so far has been (1) Joanne getting threatened/coerced/cryptically used by [ insert powerful group like the Wardens, the Djinn, and the Ma’at ], (2) Joanne and other MCs on death’s door until a magical Mary Sue healing fixes Joanne and transforms someone into something else, and (3) the villain from the book’s open is eclipsed by a bigger villain revealed through flashbacks and gotcha moments that Joanne fails to sleuth.

I’d prefer Joanna to be clever, to execute plans, and to function as a team with any of the factions. And for goodness sake, just once could someone try adulting and explain what needs to happen and why? Because Joanne is a force for good and would ride or die with a team willing to work with her instead of simply manipulating her. Everyone from Djinn Jonathon, to Wardens Louis, Marion and Paul, to her love David use her … and she just lets them.

The ending of this book hopefully signaled that Joanne’s done simply reacting and getting blown about like a leaf in the wind. Here’s hoping she goes on the offensive and becomes the the snarky sunshine mixed with a huge dose of hurricane.
