Good writing, but big romance flaw...

Seriously had an angry disconnect with this so-called "independent " woman heroine rolling over like a pathetic ragdoll when a manipulative, grasping, betraying, ambitious lying grasping woman removes her from her home & life's work. And noone ever addresses it or stops her. But also, the momentary forgiveness I might have had for the pathetic heroine completely disappeared as she arrives at the houseparty and allows herself to be a doormat, just as weak and pathetic amongst her so-called friends who treat her the same way. Then we find out the original manipulator who is trying to take over her life's workers was also the former lover of the chosen matchmaking love interest (the Hero) who stresses that "Livy" (reformed madam trying to take over) is still his close friend and the narrative shows multiple time how well they know & understand each other's thinking and characters. Well, it was damned hard to understand why the Heroine is even a Heroine at all. She's pathetic, weak-willed, inarticulate, easily manipulated, & barely visible as a character worth the story or the love. Totally frustrating how stupid she is portrayed. Big Ugh.
