Pretty good scifi thriller

I enjoyed this, my first listen from SciFi writer Ty Drago, set in a near future USA. With an original plot, good characters and fine pacing, this was a fun listen and I will definitely listen to more from this author. I particularly enjoy books with suspense and complicated plots, but limited violence, gore, bad language and graphic sex. This book hit high on my personal buttons with no negatives. I particularly enjoyed the excellent narration by Jennifer Fournier. She has good expression, excellent pacing--sorry to mention pacing twice, but both the speed of the performance and the speed of the story are important to me. Her voice is pleasant in my ears, without any distractions. This is the type of reading I enjoy most--one that enhances the story without dominating it!

A lot of intrigue with twists and turns!

I really enjoyed this book. I found the premise to be interesting and intriguing. I always know when a book has caught my interest if I find myself thinking about it randomly trying to figure things out it in it. This book is fast paced, has lots of twists and turns while the characters are trying to figure out a political cabal that reaches into the highest places from politicians to justices. Who is Checkmate? What is this conspiracy and how did it manage to acquire such high level people and become so powerful? I'm looking forward to the next book to find out all the secrets that are yet to be revealed. I love the narrator, Jennifer Fournier. I have listened to other things that she has narrated and she brings the characters to life.
