Als Silyor aus dem Gefängnis zurück in den Dienst geholt wird, stinkt die Sache sofort bis zum Himmel. Immerhin müsste er wegen des angeblichen Mordes an seinem Partner noch über zwanzig Jahre dort versauern. Doch seine Vorgesetzten versprechen ihm, die Strafe zu erlassen, wenn er nach ihrer Pfeife tanzt.
Seine Aufgabe: einer Organisation aus Auftragsmördern das Handwerk zu legen.
Für ihn eine einfache Sache. Eigentlich.
Doch seine eingeschränkte Freiheit entpuppt sich schnell als Selbstmordkommando. Außerdem stimmt irgendetwas ganz und gar nicht in Yorkh. Kinder verschwinden, Menschen lösen sich buchstäblich in Rauch auf, und als wäre das nicht genug, erscheint ständig dieser mysteriöse Typ in seiner Nähe. Kaito. Vermeintlicher Barkeeper, Problem-Magnet und leider viel zu attraktiv.
Silyor wird das Gefühl nicht los, das alles mit dem Mord zusammenhängt, den man ihm damals angedichtet hat. Aber wie zur Hölle soll er an die unter Verschluss gehaltenen Akten des Falls kommen, wenn jeder seiner Schritte unter strenger Beobachtung steht?
Er beginnt, tiefer in der Vergangenheit zu graben.
Und stößt auf eine lang vergessene Finsternis.
