Acerca de esta escucha
Considered by many to be James Kavanaugh's most powerful book, it contains his own personal philosophy in a tale about a community of pelicans and the life of the amazing Harry Lagendorf Pelican. Dear Abby offered to give money back to anyone who did not love this book. This audiobook is a must-listen for anyone trapped in an unhappy relationship, job, or way of life.
James Kavanaugh was born on September 17, 1928 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He entered St. Joseph's Seminary in Grand Rapids at the age of 15. He was ordained in 1954 and served as a parish priest in Lansing and Flint, Michigan. He received a doctorate at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He was a priest teaching at Notre Dame University when he wrote his controversial book, A Modern Priest Looks at His Outdated Church, in 1967. In the book, he called for church reforms on issues such as birth control, divorce, premarital sex, and celibacy for priests. The book eventually led him to leave the priesthood.
He wrote more than two dozen books during his lifetime, including works of poetry, nonfiction, and allegories. His works included The Birth of God, There Are Men Too Gentle to Live Among Wolves, Celebrate the Sun: A Love Story, A Village Called Harmony: A Fable, A Coward for Them All, The Celibates, and Search: A Guide for Those Who Dare to Ask of Life Everything Good and Beautiful.
He died after undergoing surgery for an aortic aneurysm in July on December 29, 2009 at the age of 81. This audiobook has been made available with permission and at the request of his widow, Cathy Kavanaugh, and the Kavanaugh estate.

A remarkable reading of a beautiful story
Eddie Frierson is a talented narrator! I recently finished listening, and it was engaging to hear him read - his expression, the pace, the sound effects, the music, it's really as perfect as I would want it to be. I felt carried along, as tends to happen when the story is good and the person telling it is a gifted story-teller. Thank you Mr. Eddie Frierson, this is a special performance of Celebrate the Sun. It brought tears to my eyes once again.

MAGNIFICENT!
I have waited and waited for this title to become available in audiobook format and am thrilled that it is finally here. A classic story about love and being grateful for your life - living life to the fullest and knowing what is really important. We experience those wisdom thoughts through the life of Harry Langendorf Pelican and this production could not be better. The narration is spot on and the sprinkled sound effects add to the experience. This book should be HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by all and you will not be sorry for paying the small price or using a credit to download. An absolute classic that will have tears in your eyes with the final sentence. I loved this book. "For all who celebrate the sun... and are grateful."
